Zinc – The Marriott’s Brasserie

December 12, 2013

One of my colleagues left us yesterday and as such got the entire team to eat lunch at Zinc Brasserie. This “restaurant” is part of the Marriott’s Courtyard complex that we have just next door so going there is convenient when we have a group lunch It’s the first time I’ve been there though but I had been wondering about Zn for a while now. I heard good and bad rumours and yesterday’s lunch was the perfect opportunity to make my own opinion.

From the outside it doesn’t look good but inside the decoration fits the Hotel style: classy with lots of sitting arrangements and warm colours. The Christmas tree in the Lobby reminds me that I want a Christmas tree at the apartment…I will need to bother the BF again and again until he forfeits the fight.

My company had three different menus to choose from including a vegetarian option which I tried. I’m not vegetarian but I was curious so I told myself why not? You’re the only one at the table to take that menu but who cares? And so I discovered the veggie menu which wasn’t as veggie as I had imagined…

I must say that the menu sounded nice on the paper, the starter was good but then… One disappointment after another if not for the presentation of the dishes. The veggies with the cod were kind of weirdly cooked, the butter sauce was strange also, as for the Crème Brûlée….I can assure you that it wasn’t Crème Brûlée and Vanilla wasn’t part of the recipe. So D-I-S-A-P-P-O-I-N-T-I-N-G

I must admit that the buffet looked less hazardous: Pizza and burgers, all classics...

I have recently heard that the Marriott would renovate its ground floor and turn the restaurant into a brasserie style offering Belgian and French cuisine. Let's check when they're done...
